Description

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY.

ICT Department is mandated to provide leadership in the development, management and use of ICT in the Hospital.

Staffing.

ICT department has thirteen (13) staff members.

State-of-the art:-

Information Technology & Telephone has a state-of-the art IT infrastructure that supports all hospital functions. It has a computer network that covers the whole of the Hospital’s area with a capacity to support over 250 nodes. Interlink between buildings is through proper network configurations to make sure that data and speed is not compromised. With this network infrastructure, comes over 200 computers that are attached to it.

The Department is responsible for:

  • Development and implementation of ICT Policies, Strategies and Standards
  • Support of the Hospital’s ICT Infrastructure and the management and day-to-day operation

  • Providing the technical support of the Hospital Website
  • Basic ICT Training for staff and students
  • ICT Advisory Services
  • Telemedicine Services
  • Telecoms & networking: Technical Support of LANs, WANs and Phone systems; Network Administration, Email, Internet access.
  • Training: ICT Training of end-users (staff and students)
  • Information & Support: Help Desk: Provide a one-stop point for problem calls and resolution, requests and information about ICT services; End user contacts for problem resolution.

Aspects of Engineering Department:

  • Technical Aspect:- Systematic inspection and servicing as well as necessary repair of Hospital equipment and Machines, Building Plant etc.
  • Training aspect:- Advising and training of medical staff in handling and operation of equipment in a very practical way.
  • Management aspect:- Organization of the workshop and spare part as well as the daily work schedule. Communication with the Hospital administration, Medical staff and other authorities.
  •  Monitoring aspect:- Recording of all activities of the maintenance department, proper histories of the equipment and facilities.
  • The department deals with the entire engineering works at the hospital.

Objective of Engineering Department.

  • To ensure availability of safe and effective medical equipment
  • To ensure continued and economical operation of fixed plant and Installations.
  • To ensure the integrity, quality and supply of services to health care facilities
  • To ensure that users of medical equipment are trained adequately in its safe and effective use and day to day maintenance.
  • To ensure the maintenance personnel are adequately trained.

  • All Medical Equipment, Plant and Medical furniture are operated properly by adequately trained personal
  • All Medical Equipment, Plant and Medical furniture are being utilized-properly for medical diagnostic, treatment and other relevant purpose.
  • All Medical Equipment, Plant and medical furniture are safe for patient and user to ensure that accident do not occur.
  • To ensure the hospital staff and patients are satisfied.

Engineering unit services has become a major task in different health Institutions and covers a whole range of 5 regions in Lake zone. We are offering service and maintenance of medical equipment in Regional Hospitals and District Hospitals in the Lake zone area.

SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT ROLES

  • Asses each patients social economic condition by conducting interviews to dialognoses  to the needy patients.
  • Develop comprehensive plans to help patients adjust to medical diagnoses and transition from the health care system to normal life
  • Provide necessary support for each patient according to health status, personal strength and weakness, emotional state and additional factors.
  • Conducting community resources mapping to determine local support groups and other resources to help patient in needy
  • Evaluate services and resources provided to patients to determine effectiveness
  • Follow up with patients throughout diagnosis, treatment and recovery to determine current state of mental and emotional health
  • Maintain current knowledge of local resources and relevant medical research to provide best possible recommendation to patients

Correspondence Handling: Review incoming correspondence and draft appropriate replies according to established guidelines and criteria.

Urgent Matters: Identify urgent matters that require the personal attention of the Director General and bring them to their notice.

Document Quality: Ensure that outgoing correspondence is typed accurately, and check and proofread reports and documents before dispatch.

Mail Distribution: Maintain and manage the Director General's distribution list, overseeing the distribution of outgoing mail, memoranda, and reports.

Filing System: Ensure the efficiency and confidentiality of the filing system by monitoring the work of secretarial and administrative staff.

Prioritization: Prioritize administrative and secretarial work and monitor work progress to ensure timely completion.

Administrative Arrangements: Make sure that administrative arrangements for meetings, travel, and other activities are well-organized and completed.

Content Creation: Draft speeches, policy positions, and option papers as directed. This likely requires the ability to craft persuasive and informative documents.

Correspondence Handling: Answer correspondence and inquiries on behalf of the Director General, ensuring efficient communication.
